For more than 50 years, the Mesquite Championship Rodeo has entertained families with thrilling rodeo events such as saddle bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and more.
The rodeo includes jumbo video boards to highlight all of the action, a private club and the Fan Zone. Beginning at 6 p.m., visitors can come onto the arena floor, interact with rodeo participants and try out their rodeo skills. For children, the Fan Zone includes free pony rides, stick horse barrel racing, and a roping dummy.
You can sign up your kiddo for a chance to participate in fan favorite Mutton Bustin' at the arena.(Mutton bustin' is riding a sheep! Mutton bustin' participants must be over the age of four and under 55 pounds to be eligible.) Visitors can also savor a delicious barbecue dinner at the onsite BBQ pavilion.

Performance Information
Performances are every Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. from June through August in air-conditioned Mesquite Arena. The arena is also the site of the Cowboys of Color Finals Rodeo every October.

The Devil’s Bowl Speedway offers explosive race-car action on its half-mile, outdoor dirt track. Here all types of vehicles race in action packed competitions, including the O’Reilly Spring and Winter Nationals.

This 154-acre, 18-hole golf course will provide hours of fun for both novice and expert golfers. Operated by the City of Mesquite, the course features a snack bar, pro shop, and driving range, which is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Established in 1878 as a depot town for the Texas and Pacific Railroad, Mesquite has grown into a modern suburban city with a deep respect for its historic roots. The Florence Ranch Homestead is an outstanding example of late 19th century rural Texas architecture and early pioneer ranching.
Tour Information
The Florence Ranch Homestead is open Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. General admission - $4 for adults; $2 for children ages 3-12; children 3 years and under are free with an adult.
Special times – Second Saturday of each month, except December and January, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., $2 flat fee for everyone; no family pays more than $5.

Don’t miss the rare painted ceilings in the Opal Lawrence house, centerpiece of the Opal Lawrence Historical Park, depicting the agricultural lifestyle of one of Mesquite’s earliest families. You can also see a late 1800s barn, a log cabin and a nature trail. The park is also the location for the headquarters of Historic Mesquite, Inc. in the historic Noah Range house.

The park is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. General admission - $5 for adults; $3 for children ages 3 to 12; children 3 years and under are free with an adult. Please check in at the Noah Range house to tour.

Located in Victory Park near downtown Dallas, the museum is described as a “world of wonder” by the Dallas Morning News. It includes 11 permanent exhibit halls such as the Being Human Hall, the Rose Hall of Birds and the Expanding Universe Hall, and a Children’s Museum. Lots of hands-on fun for kids of all ages, along with a café, a theater with state-of-the-art video and 3-D computer animation and a museum shop.

Fair Park was built in 1936 for the Texas Centennial celebration. The State Fair of Texas is held in Fair Park every October. The park has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark because the grounds have one of the largest collections of art-deco buildings in the United States.

Located just south of downtown Dallas, Dallas Heritage Village offers a unique historical experience for visitors. The “living history museum” takes you back to life in North Texas from 1840-1910. The village features 38 historic structures, a Civil War era working farm, elegant Victorian homes, a church, and a school, all on 13 wooded acres.
Field trips and group tours welcomed. You may visit Heritage Village on Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The village is closed on Mondays and during the months of January and August.

"History, after all, is the memory of a nation." Little did JFK know that his quote would come to life with his death. In November of 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas and thus began the memory of a nation. Housed in the former Texas School Book Depository, the museum examines the life, death, and legacy of President JFK.

The John Bunker Sands Wetland Center provides opportunities for research, education, wildlife observation, and community gatherings within a comfortable, environmentally-conscious building. The 5,400 s.f. facility includes an exhibit and gallery hall, a research lab, a classroom and an observation deck to view the wetland. A granite pathway leads to a boardwalk extending into the living wetland.
