Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) at Opal Lawrence Historical Park

Friday, February 16, 2018

The 20th annual GBBC is taking place February 17-20 in backyards, parks, nature centers, on hiking trails, school grounds, balconies, and beaches—anywhere you find birds. And In Mesquite, birds are abundant at Opal Lawrence Historical Park, 711 E. Kearney St. The Park will be open for bird watchers between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Feb. 16 and 17. Those who participate will count the birds they see for at least 15 minutes on one or both days of the count, then enter their checklists at birdcount.org. Just bring out a lawn chair or blanket and start the count. Entrance to the park is free during those times. Learn more about how to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count at birdcount.org where downloadable instructions and an explanatory PowerPoint are available.
